One of the things you often come across as a Black person, a minoritised person or person from the Global South or Global Majority is that moment when you realise the default doesn't include you. 

It can happen pretty early, through experiences with hair or skin colour but one of the earliest is when you realise that there are people and then there are Black people. When you realise that some people have to hyphenate.
