An Update From Sharon - March 2025
Experiments with video, anti-racism education, new social media, and more
Hello friends,
If all goes well, by the time you read this, I'll be wandering around Panama City. I might even have already visited the Panama Canal, which is on my list.
I recently entered a new decade, and on the advice of a very good friend (you know who you are, and thank you), I decided to mark its start by doing something I love: travelling to a place I've never visited before. It's been a while since I've done that, but having rediscovered the travel bug, I see more travel to new places in my future.
Here's what's been happening in my world in the last month.
What Sharon Said
On February 14th, I had the second episode of my live show, What Sharon Said Wants. In it, I covered content promotion tips and a tribute to an old friend who's no longer around. Because of my travel plans, the next episode is on March 14, and it will be another full circle moment as I talk about introversion.
I'm enjoying the freedom to spread my wings a bit in terms of conversation - though anti-racism is my life, it's not ALL of my life, and I'm interested in a lot of other things - sooo many other things, lol. Along with that show, I've also set myself a personal challenge to create more videos, and most of them will live on my new YouTube channel.
Anti-Racism Education
Two cool things happened in February. First, I gave a presentation to some folx studying Black health, talking about DEI, anti-racism, my career path and looking after yourself as the only. I hope to capture some of that conversation in an essay coming up in March.
Second, I did a presentation on creating anti-racist habits for the SHHARE community. I was pleased with how it came together. I approached it from the perspective of habit stacking, and taking meaningful action. I'll do a summary in the newsletter in the next few weeks, and may also record a version for inclusion in my upcoming learning library.
On another note, Lisa and I had a fun time talking to Sam Chavez about Radical Joy, Community & Movement Resilience. You can listen to part of that conversation for free - and support Sam's work to hear the rest. While we were chatting I came up with a great analogy, which will be making an appearance in the newsletter some time soon.
