An Update From Sharon - April 2025

Panama, going live, new launches and more

Hello friends,

What a busy month it's been, hasn't it?

For me it's been a month of balancing showing up with avoiding emotional overwhelm because the bad news seems to keep coming relentlessly. However, I choose to give more of my attention to the good news that the resistance exists and is active. (And for those of my readers outside the US, pay attention, because it's needed where you are, too.)

With that, here's what's been happening in the past month and what's coming up this month.

My Birthday Trip

As you know my husband and I went to Panama to mark my latest milestone birthday. It was amazing! It was great to go somewhere new, get a snapshot of a different culture (it could only be a snapshot as it was a short trip), wheel out my rusty Spanish, and just relax. I turned off my notifications and some of them have stayed off, because I enjoyed having the choice of when to look. Of course, we always have that choice, but if your phone is pinging or buzzing it can be hard to ignore.

The Panama Canal was wondrous, and the Panama Canal Museum (inexplicably NOT by the Canal itself but in the old town, Casco Viejo) was well worth a visit. Of course, I wouldn't be me if I ignored some of the racial politics and colonial attitudes that underpinned the construction of this wonder of the world, and I talked about some of what I learned in Episode 004 of What Sharon Said.
